The Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Hazel Noonan, officially opened Premier Group’s new Engineering Centre on Tuesday, July 29.
After unveiling a plaque to mark Premier Group’s £600,000 investment in the Engineering Centre, the Lord Mayor and her consort, her son Christopher, met members of staff.
“It was fascinating to hear about the work that is being done here in Coventry and to see engineering and craft skills flourishing in the city,” said the Lord Mayor.
The Engineering Centre open day was also attended by Board Director of Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) Councillor Ann Lucas and members of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.
Premier Group Chairman Denis Meagher said: “We are grateful for the support we have received, both from the city council and CWLEP, and we look forward to working with them as we press ahead with our plans for expansion in and around Coventry. As a company we feel very much aligned to Coventry City Council’s strategic vision of enhancing skills and increasing the numbers of people from the area in the workplace.”
The new Engineering Centre is one component of a £3m investment package made by Premier Group over the last four years covering buildings, equipment and staff.
